MediaAwareEU

MediaAwareEU is an initiative developed by Altair Media Europe exploring new approaches to media literacy in a rapidly evolving digital environment.

The initiative focuses on strengthening public understanding of how digital media ecosystems operate — including the role of algorithms, information flows, technological platforms and the infrastructures that shape contemporary communication.

MediaAwareEU introduces the concept of Infrastructure Awareness, which aims to help citizens better understand how digital infrastructures influence the visibility of information, public discourse and participation in the digital public sphere.

The initiative contributes to the broader European conversation on media literacy, democratic resilience and the responsible use of digital technologies.

MediaAwareEU is currently being developed as part of the European Media Society programme, which brings together projects and collaborations focused on media literacy, digital culture and civic participation.

Altair Media Europe is currently exploring partnerships with researchers, cultural organisations and educational institutions across Europe interested in advancing media literacy in the digital age.

In 2026 a project proposal related to MediaAwareEU was submitted to the European Creative Europe programme. Further developments will be shared as the initiative evolves.
